In partnership with the Khmer HIV/AIDS NGO Alliance (KHANA), VisionFund began to offer financial services to HIV & AIDS affected families in Kampong Cham province in 2007 to remove the barriers to accessing economic opportunities.
The innovative microfinance approach, the first of its kind in Cambodia, continues to today. In 2009, VisionFund served 32 HIV/AIDS affected families in Kampong Cham and Kampong Thom provinces with a total loan portfolio of USD 16,473.
With microfinance, this typically marginalized group can increase their incomes, better adhere to antiretroviral therapy, and experience less discrimination.
