Kampong Chhnang is best known for its pottery

The majority of pottery in Cambodia originates from the Kampong Chhnang province. In addition to pottery production, the residents:

  • cultivate rice crops
  • grow palm trees, and
  • produce bamboo baskets which are a popular export to Thailand.

There is also a large fishing industry in the parts of the province that are situated near the Tonle Sap Lake, one of the biggest lakes in South Asia.

Approximately 90km north of Phnom Penh, the Kampong Chhnang province consists of  8 districts, 69 communes and 86,944 families.
