Kampong Speu Province
Kampong Speu is renowned for its palm tree products
Situated 40km west of Phnom Penh, the Kampong Speu province is best known for its palm trees and rice crops. Farmers in this district use the palm trees to:
- produce sugar, palm juice and palm wine
- harvest coconuts
- build houses
The province is located along National Road 4, which connects Phnom Penh to the seaport SihanoukVille. There are an increasing number of garment factories along this road which has helped to reduce the unemployment rate in the province.
The Kampong Speu currently province consists of 8 districts, 87 communes, and 124,311 families.
