On 4-5 July 2015: VisionFund Cambodia organized the Champion League 2015 football tournament, which was graced by the presence of its new CEO, Mr. Adrian Merryman and top management personnel.


VisionFund Cambodia used to host football matches and other sport activities. For something special this year, Management decided to have a champion team from the Institution. The tournament was conducted with 4 objectives: to build a closer relationship between all staff, to promote sport for health, to increase the effectiveness as a team, and to have fun for staff.

VisionFund Champion League was arranged into two rounds. In the first round, the committee grouped 3 branches into one pool and the best team from each pool qualified for next round. There were 6 pools in the first round and with 6 teams qualified, namely Kampong Speu, Battambang, Siem Reap, Svay Rieng, Rattanakiri and Head Office. In the second round, all 6 qualified teams played a round robin league against each other and the team with the highest points won the championship.


“VisionFund Management supports this tournament, since we all understand that sport is a healthy activity. Furthermore, when employees work hard and are stressed participating in sports gives relief and improvement to our work productivity,” said Mr. Phon Sampha, Group Head of Corporate Strategy and Organizational Development. He added, “VisionFund will continue to support other sports activities next year.”


In the final day of the tournament, all 90 players from the 6 teams that qualified took part. Kampong Speu Branch won first place and was awarded with a trophy, medals, and US$300. Second place went to Svay Rieng Branch with US$200 award and third place went to Battambang Branch with US$100 award. There were consolation prizes for teams that did not win. At the end of the tournament, all the 6 teams that reached the final received awards.
